Fred Smith
Freddy Smith, CPA is a Director in the Postlethwaite & Netterville Accounting and Assurance Services Group. He joined the firm in 1989.
Freddy serves as the firm’s Leader of the Governmental Auditing Group. He has enhanced the firm’s specialization in not-for-profit and governmental accounting and auditing by obtaining the AICPA’s Certificate of Educational Achievement in Governmental and Not-for-Profit Accounting and Auditing. He has assisted several clients in attaining GFOA’s Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting. Freddy has conducted numerous external and internal seminars on governmental topics at P&N.
Freddy served as the Chairman of several committees relating to governmental accounting and auditing including the Capital Assets Subcommittee of the Legislative Auditor’s GASB 34 Implementation Task Force and the Louisiana Society of CPA’s Baton Rouge chapter Governmental Accounting and Auditing committee. Additionally, he has spoken on a variety of governmental accounting topics at seminars and conferences conducted for in-house staff, clients, the Baton Rouge chapter of the LCPA, the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), and the Louisiana Association of School Board Officials (LASBO). Freddy has experience in advising clients in areas of application of accounting principles, internal control strengths and weaknesses, and operating efficiency.
